In a space constructed like a gift shop, Christophe Coppens, who has very specific ideas about what a “shop” should be, presents mountain-like objects made with a variety of materials. Some of these characters are comical, some are monster-like, some are erotic. While the works here are reminiscent of the artist’s “Design” series, which received praise for its originality, they also demonstrate a solidified skill in creating more aesthetically unrestrained worlds.
