Goze refers to kind of blind female musician, who wonders the villages as a busker. Images of this figure have appeared in the Edo Ukiyo-e of Hiroshige Utagawa and could be encountered at one point around the country but after WWII their presence became increasingly less visible. This exhibition reflects upon the role of the Goze in a series of vintage monochrome prints.
