Art and Printed Matter from the 1960s to the 1970s

The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
Finished
In the 1960s, artists began to utilize printed matter such as books, magazines, catalogs, brochures, handouts, and postcards as a means of circulating ideas and records of actions. Printed matter became a “work of art” in its own right rather than mere reproductions of originals. Centering on the materials collected by the art libraries of the National Art Museums, this exhibition examines the close relationship between art and printed matter from the 1960s and the 1970s.
