Artists

Katsuhiro Yamaguchi
In 1951 Katsuhiro Yamaguchi joined with Shozo Kitadai, Hideko Fukushima, Touru Takemitsu and Kuniharu Akiyama to form the pioneering art group “Jikken Kobo” pushing the boundaries of art and technology. In 2001 this leading figure of early Japanese media art began to suffer from ill health and while struggling with the limitations of the body he still continues to produce his work within a care facility at the grand age of 86. This exhibition features work focusing on his ongoing motif of “water”, centering on his painting works while also presenting his video work produced in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake disaster.
