Based on a global perspective, the Taguchi Art Collection features works by pop culture giants such as Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, as well as currently active artists including Yayoi Kusama and Vik Muniz. This exhibition, which lets visitors experience the global art scene as it is today, presents works chosen not by museum directors or curators but by local Matsumoto City elementary school children at the encouragement of collector Hiroshi Taguchi, who wanted “many children to see art.” 6,347 youngsters participated in the selection process, viewing images and casting votes for the works they most wanted to see displayed. The students also helped named the show.

How is contemporary art reflected in the eyes of children, who come to it without preconceptions or background knowledge? Which works did they select? What kind of show will this be? There are many unanswered questions. The only thing known for sure about this exhibition is that it is filled of the dreams of children.
