Hanako Muraoka et al.
Hanako Muraoka(1893-1968) is renowned as the translator of Anne of Green Gables and the popular NHK TV serialization “Hanako and Anne” brought much interest to her life. Having been educated in a missionary school for girls and being gripped with a passion for reading Hanako wanted to further educational opportunities for girls through more publications written for them. It was with this thought that she took up the translation of Anne of Green Gables which still has a lasting legacy today. With the cooperation of the Anne of Green Gables Museum / Hanako Muraoka Library this exhibition showcases a collection of documents following the work of Muraoka, along with the illustrated picture book of Hideaki Matsuura and photographs of Kazutoshi Yoshimura.
