The Architecture of Studio Gibli

Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum
Finished
Since its establishment in 1985 Studio Gibli has brought numerous well-loved animations to the big screen. Through the wide ranging works from the starting point of “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” to the most recent “When Marnie Was There”, a most detailed architectural stage of imagination is set within each animation film. From the bathhouse of Spirited Away, to the Gutiokipan Bakery of Kiki’s Delivery Service, to the temple of Pom Poko and Howl’s Moving Castle, the architectural landscape of each production is minutely researched and brought to form through the power of the mind’s eye, and here they are brought into the real world in 3D forms ready to stoke our imaginations to even further end.
