Yamatane Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Hiroshige Utagawa, Taikan Yokoyama, Gyokudo Kawai et al.
In Japan, a land surrounded by the sea and blessed with a natural environment rich in mountains and rivers, water is a familiar part of life, one that has long been expressed in a great variety of forms. This exhibition presents a selection of works from the museum’s collection of Edo-period to contemporary Japanese art on the subject of that refreshing substance, water, organized across the themes of rivers, seas, waterfalls, and rain, with a focus on the sounds of water and the auditory experience evoked by these works.
