This one-night only event is the launch party for Covered Tokyo and a celebration of the recent publication of the 1,000th issue of the art magazine “Bijutsu Techo.” It is co-hosted by Park Hotel Tokyo, known for its close ties to the art world, and Art Fair Tokyo (March 7 - March 9), Japan’s leading art market event. An array of premier artists will present work non-stop throughout the night, including a performance by the art unit Olta, live drawing by Hiraku Suzuki, and jazz piano improvisation by Dairo Suga, as well as DJing by L?K?O. The walls of the venue will transfix visitors as they come alive with projections of video artwork by Sayuki Inoue, Hikaru Suzuki, and Hiroyuki Nisogi. The hotel lobby also will feature exhibitions of artwork from the Covered Tokyo booth at Art Fair Tokyo. Visitors can enjoy cutting-edge art in a new kind of space, making the party a superb complement to a trip to Art Fair Tokyo, or even a preview before to heading to the fair the next day to see more. Guests can sample incredible original cocktails created by five artists (Taro Izumi, Ken Kagami, Tatzu Nishi, Cobra, Yuichi Yokoyama) made in collaboration with Park Hotel Tokyo’s skilled bartenders.
