Artists

Yasuyuki Namikawa, Katsuyoshi Shoami, Zeshin Shibata, Shosaki Shirayama, Gyokuzan Asahi, Rokuzan Ando et al.
The art and craft of the Meiji era has in recent years drawn much attention from the media with its impressive techniques and breath taking delicacy, and yet as most of these works were created for the foreign market it is still rare to see a comprehensive collection of them together in Japan.
This exhibition features treasures from the Masayuki Murata collection of the Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum including the jewels of Yasuyki Namikawa, the metalwork of Katsuyoshi Shoami, the lacquer ware of Zeshin Shibata and Shosai Shirayama and the ivory sculpture of Gyokuzan Asahi and Rokuzan Ando, bringing new light to the wonders of the Meiji era.
