Takuma Uematsu “For a New World”

Ginza Maison Hermès
Finished

Artists

Takuma Uematsu
Hermès’s motif of 2014 is “transformation,” an idea inspired by the way in which a single material can take on a diverse array of forms through the skilled hands of an artisan, or the full potential that can be reached by such an object through repeated use. The artisans of Hermès continuously pursue innovation through a harmony of exacting practice and creative freedom.

The works of featured contemporary artist Takuma Uematsu explore the relationship between life and the corporeality of the body. Covered in numerous glass blocks resembling cells, these life forms reflect seasons, climates, and time zones. Uematsu’s work is now on display in the show windows of Maison Hermès.
