These works by six women artists born in 1960 were chosen for the 2nd open-call Tobi Selection Group Exhibition. Pursuing artistic expression while remaining true to the essential elements of Nihonga painting, these experienced artists have found their own individuals approaches but also represent the particular traits of their generation. Making their marks in all senses of the term, they present an opportunity to reflect on the current state of Nihonga painting as it transforms through the interchange of personal expressions and moves into the future.
