Taro Okamoto and Art Brut— To the Horizon of Outsider Art

Taro Okamoto Museum of Art, Kawasaki
Finished

Artists

Taro Okamoto, Tinga Tinga, Makoto Okawa
Introducing works of Art Brut (“raw” art), a form of art rooted in the original expression of one’s own world, which does not required specialist training. Named by the French artist Jean Dubuffet, the movement was translated into English as “outsider art” and spread around the world. The ideas of Art Brut have parallels with the creative principles of Taro Okamoto’s “Avant-Garde Art”. This show presents diverse expressions of Art Brut, including works by children and disabled persons.
