Hammer-Head Studio is a 2 year project initiated in May 2012, bringing together 50 groups of artists in the 4,400 m2 space of Yokohama’s Shinko Pier, and now comes to the end of its activities in April this year. But it is not with sadness and regret that this final curtain is met but with a sense of celebration of all that has been achieved in such a short space of time. Through regular open studio events, artist talks, vegetable markets, cafes, art shops and various other engagements the space has transformed the local area. As part of its closing events the artists based here will hold an auction of their work, sell their tools at bargain prices, as well as bar and cafe facilities run by a different member each day.
