“Withdraw!”

Shinko Pier
Finished
Hammer-Head Studio is a 2 year project initiated in May 2012, bringing together 50 groups of artists in the 4,400 m2 space of Yokohama’s Shinko Pier, opening up a space usually left closed to the public, allowing locals and visitors to build a new relationship with this space through regular open studio events, artist talks, vegetable markets, cafes, art shops and various other engagements. Taking up station in this historic area of Yokohama which was once a window upon the world through the silk trade, artists have established this as a base for creative production and the transmission of this work both nationally and internationally. This Spring this initiative will be reaching its finale, marked by a special series of events reviewing what has been achieved here and what all the associated artists plan to do from now, accompanied by a catalogue introducing the 2 years of artistic activities which have taken place here.
