This event has ended.
Renowned for his swinging lines upon a bright base of colors, the style of Raoul Dufy (1877–1953) began to blossom from the 1920s in paintings of the dazzling sunlight and open Mediterranean landscapes. Tracing the evolution of his work from his entrance to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1899, through to his encounter with Fauvism, painting in L’Estaque with Georges Braque, creating woodblock prints for Guillaume Apollinaire’s “The Bestiary or Procession of Orpheus” and designing textiles in collaboration with Paul Poiret, etc. this exhibition provides a new overview of Dufy’s wide creative practice, moving beyond his play of colors and light, to reveal the essentials of Dufy as an artist.
