Artists

Naoki Ishikawa, Yoshitomo Nara
Last summer the world-traveling photographer Naoki Ishikawa went on a trip with Yoshitomo Nara, an artist known for his pictures of children with defiant gazes. Heading north to Aomori, Hokkaido, and Sakhalin, they visited places famous for the Ainu language and encountered worlds both nostalgic and new. Focusing on their photographs, this show is an account of their 22-day journey. It also traces the source of their creativity with memorabilia including shoes, diaries, and records.
