Wataru Yamamoto
Wataru Yamamoto uses photography as a medium for his diverse works, which explore relationships between nature and contemporary society and ties between nature and the self. “Forms of Desire,” a series he has been working on since 2012, is comprised of black and white works showing sculptures formed by filling masturbation tools shaped like female genitalia in with plaster. At first these plant-like, spiral-shaped organic molds seem inspired by biotechnology or even animation characters. Presented in amazingly variations, these “forms of desire” are freshly startling. Symbolizing desire harvested from the chaos of contemporary society, these abundant images manifest themselves as photographic skins.
