This is Yumiko Izu’s first exhibition in Japan of “Secret Garden”, a flower photography series taken over a seven-year period. Composed of “blanc” and “noir” photos on platinum prints, the series was taken with an 8-inch by 10-inch format camera. These images invite contemplation of not only the beauty of flowers, but also their many dualities including “life and death” and “light and dark”.
