Ei-Q and Sadajiro Kubo

Toki-no-Wasuremono
Finished

Artists

Ei-Q, Tamiji Kitagawa, Toshinobu Onosato, Yuki Katsura, Shuzo Takiguchi et al.
While Ei-Q is an artist who has left a vital impact upon Modern Japanese Art it is strange to observe that he has not been given full recognition for this role within art history itself. But in contrast with this Ei-Q continues to generate interest from art galleries throughout the country like no other artist can. But who is Eikyu? Here in the 25th volume of an ongoing series of exhibitions examining Ei-Q’s life and work a spotlight is placed on his greatest supporter, the contemporary art collector Sadajiro Kubo, art critic, leader of art of education for children, flag bearer for the movement of small collectors and the first director of Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts. Kubo was instrumental in supporting the careers of Democratic Artists Association founder Ei-Q and associated artists such as Masuo Ikeda, Tamiji Kitagawa, Toshinobu Onosato, Yuki Katsura and Shuzo Takiguchi and this is celebrated here in an exhibition of these artists’ work.
