Riusuke Fukahori “Goldfish, Viewed From Above”

Artists

Riusuke Fukahori
Self-described “goldfish artist” Riusuke Fukahori has won international acclaim for his hyper-realistic paintings of goldfish that appear entirely as if they are enclosed in the containers onto which they are painted. Fukahori achieves this look with a sublime technique involving painting in layers on resin. His inspiration for developing this technique came from observing the strange, startling beauty of his pet goldfish from above, a sight that reaffirmed their loveliness to him. Capturing this “beauty viewed from above”— the origin of Fukahori’s work— this exhibition displays representative works from immediately after he developed his approach a decade ago through his latest paintings, presenting a range of beautiful goldfish.
