Introducing the works of Ayako Ishiguro, an artist involved in the Life in Art project. Cat Monsters are strange feline specters, while mystical beasts are creatures of the imagination. With deceptively similar forms in both ancient Japanese and Western cultures, these animals come out during the rainy season. Ayako Ishiguro’s characters are ghoulish, yet somehow endearing and evocative of a gentle warmth. One cannot help but chuckle at these comical shape shifters.
