G/P Gallery holds the exhibition “Sakura” presenting Chikashi Suzuki’s photographs of the actress Sakura Ando. In 2013, Ando received several awards in the Japanese film industry, including Best Actress and Supporting Actress at the 86th Kinema Junpo Best 10 awards and the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Actress. Currently one of the most sought-after actresses in Japan, in 2014 she will be starring in director Momoko Ando’s film “0.5 mm” as Sawa, a woman caring for the elderly, and also playing a leading roll in “Hyaku-en no Koi,” a film directed Masaharu Take appearing in cinemas in December, 2014. Her presence in the film industry is refreshing, breaking the conventional boundaries of Japanese actresses.
This October, Little More Publishers will release the photo book “Sakura” edited by Shigeo Goto and designed by Gianni Oprandi, art director of Purple Magazine. The exhibition kicks off a campaign for the book. In mid-October an exhibition including new unpublished works will be held on the 3rd floor “ReStyle” at the Isetan Shinjuku store.
