In 1981, when Japan’s participation in the world cup was still just a dream, Captain Tsubasa made his first appearance, with the message of clinging to one’s dreams. Now over 30 years later as Japan gears up to the world cup a special exhibition is held in celebration of this manga character who brought soccer to the nation and continues to point to the future of Japanese soccer.
