This event has ended.

With its Eco-Drive watches that generate power through light, the timepiece maker Citizen is attempting to “change light into time.” In April 2014, Citizen presented “Light is Time,” its first display at Milan Design Week, for which it received both the “Best Entertaining” and “Best Sound” awards in the official Milano Design Award Competition. This achievement marked the first time a single company has won in two categories since the establishment of the awards four years ago.

In “Light is Time,” Citizen uses ground planes (a basic part in wristwatch making) to create a space filled with all-encompassing light. This is an installation only a manufacturer capable of the integrated production of moving timepieces could accomplish. Using the technologies of its Eco-Drive watches, Citizen has created an installation that let us experience a continuum of light and time.
