Yukako Shibata
The works of Yukako Shibata encompass a wide variety of forms, including sculpture and relief painting and installation, a combination of which come together in this exhibition. Shibata’s work plays upon our notions of color and shade, creating surprising phenomenon as her objects appear to have colored shadows. Her work attains a refined minimalism not only by using simple and geometric forms, but also by using sensitive colors, soft light fused with a sense of rhythm born repetitive forms. Simple figures with various elements have a new visual possibility, each element coming together, speaking to the viewers gently through beauty and comfort.
