Widely appreciated by Yokohama citizens and non-residents alike, Yokohama Civic Art Gallery turns 50 years old and moves to a new facility in 2014. Through a diverse range of exhibitions, the gallery has attempted to explore art from many different angles. From its collection encompassing some 1,300 works, it has organized displays of contemporary art, solo shows for artists with ties to Yokohama, and exchanges with Yokohama’s sister cities. Introducing Yokohama Civic Art Gallery’s 50 years of history, this exhibition presents around 150 works from the collection including paintings, photographs, and manga, as well as records of its activities and related documents.
