It is often said that Japan has entrusted the development of art movements to other countries and followed in their footsteps but in this exhibition Art Lab Tokyo seeks to demonstrate a wholly unique movement to Japan, placing its pulse upon the currents of specific art developments within the country, here brought to concentration upon the “girly” movement which has seen rise of young female artists appropriating the motif of young girls in their work.
