Bunyo Ishikawa “War and Peace: Fifty Years in Vietnam”

Ginza Nikon Salon (Nikon Plaza)
Finished

Artists

Bunyo Ishikawa
Bunyo Ishikawa first visited Saigon in 1964, the year of the Gulf of Tonkin Incident that led to the U.S.’s attack on North Vietnam and the escalation of the Vietnam War. He then spent the next 15 years in Vietnam covering the war, its conclusion, and Vietnam’s conflicts with Cambodia and China as a photo journalist. He currently continues to document the war’s aftermath, including the lives of victims of Agent Orange and unexploded bombs, as well as the country’s recovery. Around fifty of Ishikawa’s color and black and white photographs are on display.
