Shuji Yamamoto
The Sake Project started in Towada City, Aomori in the autumn of 2011 when Shuji Yamamoto met Takumi Sato, the chief brewer of a local sake factory, who invited Yamamoto to drink and plant rice with him. The project encompasses the entire sake-making process, from rice planting to sake brewing in collaboration with local residents. Starting with rice planting in the spring of 2012, participants have launched the “Tenori” sake brand and are now in their third year of planting.
