Botticelli and the Renaissance in Florence ー Money and Beauty

Bunkamura Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Sandro Botticelli et al.
In the 15th century city of flowers, Florence, artists enjoyed the generous patronage of the Medici’s and other banking families, bringing a key flourish to the world of art. In fact one may claim that the likes of Botticelli and other masters of the Florentine Renaissance were cultural symbols born from the rich support of the Florence financiers. Through a collection of 80 works across painting, sculpture and craft in addition to 10 works of Botticelli this exhibition will highlight the role of merchant trade and financial businesses in the rise of the European cultural renaissance.
