Aya Ito “The Hole”

Shibuya Hikarie 8/ Art gallery
Finished

Artists

Aya Ito
Motifs such as ghosts and cheap toys appear in the paintings of Aya Ito, filled with a certain absurdity which heightens the viewers’ confusion. Each motif seems to be collaged with an impression of depth, expanding to an original sense of winding space which derives from Ito’s process of creation referred to as “photo drawing” which gives rise to a richly detailed reality. Simultaneously, the engulfing sea of colors fill the space with a sense of impotence, with the languishing expressions drawing the viewers into their addictive charms.
