Artists

Christian Hutzinger, Lotte Lyon, Kazuna Taguchi
The exhibition “Clk” at Capsule combines the works of the three artists: Christian Hutzinger, Lotte Lyon and Kazuna Taguchi. Hutzinger and Lyon, who live in Vienna, have spent a considerable amount of time in Tokyo over the last couple of years, while the formerly Tokyo-based Taguchi currently lives in Vienna. Capsule presents the first joint exhibition of their work, which is linked through the concept of walls painted in three colors, with each artist’s work assigned its own color. The size of the color field relates directly to the measurements of the walls, but through a shift in space, a change in the perception of the gallery occurs.

All three artists use varying techniques. Taguchi presents new photographic works with origins in painting. Lyon’s new black and white photos, which deal with questions of size and relativity, use paper and drawing as a starting point. For his new colorful series of collages, Hutzinger has taken not only materials from his own archives, but also bits and pieces of Lyon and Taguchi’s works. A three-dimensional object that combines the creations of all three artists further defines the space.
