Yukinori Tokoro’s photography presents a world of tense stillness. Riding on a moving bullet train, he clicks the shutter and captures the scenery passing by outside the window. These moments, the subjects of his work, change form easily and evoke a sense of apprehension rarely felt in daily life.
Tokoro states, “Einstein was the hero of my youth, and these works are an homage to his special theory of relativity. Photography during land travel approaching the speed of light will probably not be possible during my lifetime, but taking pictures from the bullet train, which runs at 300 km, is at least a sort of charming attempt that some people will understand.
