Play IMT (2) – On the Possibilities of Theatrical Creation Within the Intermediatheque

Intermediatheque
Finished
The University Museum, the University of Tokyo and SEAMI have come together in collaboration on a theatrical project staged at the JP Tower Museum Intermediatheque. This project is an experiment on theatrical creation within a museum space, exploring the various interpretations of the word “play” within the museum context. For the second event of this series, the group will hold a public discussion coupled with performance. By organically integrating the Intermediatheque collection and activities, as well as the people who come here, into the theatrical creation process, what kind of theatrical expression can be crystalized within a museum space? This time, the program brings a focus upon our relationship with objects, openly discussing from various viewpoints the theatrical possibilities of the Intermediatheque space, and reflecting upon the future trajectory of this project with project members including Kim Seil, the Korean-born leader of SEAMI who actively works in Japan as an actor/stage director/technical trainer, and professor Yoshiaki Nishino, director both of the University Museum, the University of Tokyo, and of the Intermediatheque.
