Ichizaemon Shibata
Ceramicist Ichizaemon Shibata is known for the trademark “Seto Black” of his tea bowls, but for the past three years he has been taking on a new challenge, creating the black and white works now on display. Simplistically sculpted double-glazed black bowls have a worn look, while the insides of his white bowls are triple-glazed and slowly fired. Both colors bring out the beauty of green tea.
