The roads cut through trees appear as wounds of the forest. Forests full of homogenous species of tree, cleanly arranged in lines are not forests of nature but artificial constructions. Yet unless this is pointed out to us they appear as purely natural landscapes. In a new set of photographs Honjo examines the intangible line between nature and the manmade and searches for a means of representing this ambiguous territory.
