“Narrating Faculty of Letters - The Humanistic Study in Documents” introduces the studies of the faculty of letters through the various documents of its activities.
Venue: Library Exhibition Room at Keio University Mita Campus Library(new building)

“The Words of Master and Pupil: Junzaburo Nishiwaki and Toshihiko Izutsu” In the faculty of letters the lecture “Introduction to Linguistics” has been set as a compulsory subject in many majors since prewar. Junzaburo Nishiwaki, a scholar poet nominated for the Nobel prize, and his pupil Toshihiko Izutsu, a great master of Eastern Philosophy, taught the subject for many years. In this exhibition, the figure of the master and pupil confronting language will be described through their manuscripts and collection of books.
