As Tokyo prepares for the 2020 Olympics, it is not only sport but also culture which is gaining in increasing spirit, and in celebrating the diversity of expression and vision of the world the role of art created by people with disabilities must also be placed under focus. As part of the London 2012 Olympics the program “Unlimited” provided a platform for the creativity of people with disabilities, fostering artistic talent and bringing this to new audiences both in and beyond the Olympic Games. This forum invites Unlimited senior producer Jo Verrent and guests such as UK based dancer Chisato Minamimura together with leaders in Japanese art, design and sports to consider the successes of the programs in London and to consider how new initiatives might be supported in the lead up Tokyo’s 2020 games.
