Noriaki Tsutimoto, Cyounosuke Ise
The Ise Shima region was selected as the venue for the next G7 Summit to be organized next year in Japan. Chosen to be the face of Japan in front of an international audience, Mie prefecture is held to be one of the foundations of the Japanese spirit, centered on the history of Ise shrine, known worldwide for its regular rebuilding. But in the postwar era, the prefecture has also considerably developed its touristic resources. The present screening of two films, of differing genres but both dating back to half-a-century, will offer a retrospective look at a dynamic era and reconsider how Mie Prefecture has built both its legends and its modernity.
