In the commonplace movements of the everyday, to be conscious of one’s own existence is surely a rare phenomenon. In those moments we realize how the everyday which we take for granted may paralyze our senses. It is usual for us to see security guards standing before a building with a door framed by window displays but here Taiyo Kimura places the guard on the other side, within the window display itself. Here the artist plays a game between watching and being watched and plays off of the particular presence a security guard has and our habitual ways of looking.
