Yoshiaki Irobe
The exhibition “Yoshiaki Irobe: Wall” will be a site for presenting Tokyo Project. Irobe developed this project with the aim of actualization based on presentations held at Tokyo Design 2020 Forum, which was established after Tokyo was named the host city of the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. By redesigning and standardizing existing neighborhood notice boards, which have disparate formats, lettering, colors and shapes, Tokyo Project aims not only to enhance their function of clearly showing locations, but also to create a new Tokyo look that will be quietly input into the depths of people’s memories. This exhibition also presents many projects that Irobe has carried out while moving through the territories of surfaces, three-dimensional objects and space, including such highly impressive sign systems projects as the renovations of the Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art and the Ichihara Lakeside Museum, and the exhibition design direction of the Takeo Paper Show.
