Continuing the voyage across the world’s seven seas, in this volume we arrive at the Indonesian island of Sumba and examine the traditional weaving techniques of ikat and other textiles. Through the rich collection of Machiko Watanabe, who has undertaken over 40 years of research in this field, this exhibition provides insights into the hand craft of this island through specimen articles, craft works, photography and video, combined with lectures and workshops.
