Artists

Heine Avdal, Yukiko Shinozaki
Three years have passed since the presentation of “Borrowed Landscape –Yokohama,” a site-specific work created to casually reverse familiar landscapes into those of the extraordinary. This year the same choreographers, Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki, unveil an international co-production: “Distant Voices, Carry On –Aoyama Shakkei.”

Set at Spiral, a cultural art complex designed by the architect Fumihiko Maki commemorating its 30th anniversary this year, this site-specific work disperses people, sounds, and objects in and outside the building, including areas not usually open to the public. The performance gradually transforms as it continues, asking the public to subjectively choose positions and perspectives and open their minds to alter images of the everyday world.
