This event has ended.

Illustrator Uemura draws girls in a style reminiscent of earlier manga artists, his works featuring humorous yet sharp-edged words, realistically described background scenes, and limited use of colors. Each of these aspects contrasts with the others, creating depth in the stories that escape the elapse of time by the nature of being manga panels.

Uemura publishes his work free to the public on the internet, but does not produce copies of previously printed stories. His intention here may come from his respect towards reproducibility, or the nostalgia that the girls illustrated in his works carry. This exhibition presents Uemura’s new and previous works, as well as original images, doodles exhibited publically for the first time, and prints unlikely to be replicated in the future.
