Japanese washi paper, an indispensible part of Japanese style and life, can also produce clothing. Fashion designer Koji Hamai draws on cutting-edge materials and the knowledge of washi experts in his pursuit of the future of washi yarns and products. This exhibition introduces washi raw materials, textiles, and clothing, as well as an array of other washi products. Visitors can feel the pleasing textures of these items for themselves, and also enjoy illustrations by manga artist Shungicu Uchida detailing the drama of creating washi products.
