Artists

Nobuyuki Takahashi, Kazuhito Tanaka, Fuminao Suenaga, Kota Sasaki, Soshi Matsunobe
Whilst all the works featured in this exhibition take up concrete motifs, they are rendered in such a way as to appear as abstract expressions.
Kota Sasaki creates paintings of the architectural models he has constructed himself, based on art institutions he has in fact never traveled to before. Nobuyuki Takahashi’s paintings contain visual elements of western paintings, Japanese paintings, wood block print, and photography, yet the works possesses a balance by refusing any single genre. Kazuhito Tanaka skillfully manipulates the viewer’s trust in photographic perspective by throwing out the familiar visual perception. Soshi Matsunobe intervenes with our daily perception of items by tracing over objects and shifting their textures. These artists have produced their work by redirecting a concrete method, and the result is a visual sensation belonging to a separate system, leading us to an encounter with discreet abstraction.
