Artists

Sion Sono
Sion Sono is known as one of Japan’s current most radical filmmakers and regularly presents work in international film festivals. Yet he began his career as a poet known as “Sakutaro in Jeans” and produced a series of picture books, as well as making legendary “urban hack” performances on the streets of Tokyo as organizer of “Tokyo Gagaga”, and appearing with Suidobashi Hakase as a comedy duo, audaciously walking flat across all genres. This exhibition places a spotlight upon Sono as an artist with an archive of the Tokyo Gagaga events, new happenings under the title of “Hachiko Project” and an installation of his most recent independent film to be released next year.
