60 countries, 160 cities, Future Shorts Festival brings the best in short film to audiences around the world. Winter Season is officially here and brings you an exciting line-up of short films from South Africa, Switzerland, USA/Japan, Ireland, Canada, Israel, UK, and Sweden, including a wide range of genres, such as documentary, drama, animation, music video and comedy!! The films are selected from among those which have appeared in international film festivals or have won various prizes. Films are screened with both English and Japanese subtitles, and total duration of films is 89 min.

This winter, Future Shorts programme comprises of 9 award winning or nominated short films:

Staff Riding(South Africa 2013) by Marco Casino - Staff riding, the local slang for train surfing, is a widespread phenomenon in South Africa ; In August (Switzerland 2014 ) by Jenna Hasse - Margaux, six years old, wakes up early in this August morning. This morning is special to the girl who is about to experience a significant moment in her life. ; Rainfall – My Panda Shall Fly (USA/Japan 2013) by Yoshihide Sodeoka - Rainfall - the collaboration between Japanese-born, New York-based visual and sound artist Yoshihide Sodeoka and My Panda Shall Fly aka Suren Seneviratne. ; The Last Days of Peter Bergmann (Ireland 2013) by Ciaran Cassidy - Over his final three days, he would go to great lengths to ensure no one would ever discover who he was or where he came from. ; Timber Time – Beat the Drum Slowly(Canada 2014) by Chad Vangaalen - music video, animated by Chad Vangallen ; Subconcious Passwors (Canada 2013) by Chris Landreth - Stealing generously the classic TV game show Password, the film features a wealth of animated celebrity guests, who desperately try to prompt Charles to remember his friend’s name. ; I think this the closest to how the footage looked (Israel 2013) by Yuval Hamieri - A man recreates, with poor means, a lost memory - memory of the last day with his Mom. ; Light Motif (UK 2014) by Frédéric Bonpapa - offering a truly hypnotic experience where music can be “seen”; Instead of Abracadabra(Sweden 2008) by Patrik Eklund - A young man with big dreams begins a very curious and unique path to stardom, in Instead of Abracadabra, Swedish director Patrick Eklund’s Oscar nominated comedy short.
