Pure Design D&AD Awards 2015

The Ad Museum Tokyo
Finished
The “D&AD Awards,” known as the “Yellow Pencils,” are international awards presented by the non-profit organization D&AD (headquarters: London, UK); they reward superior creative work which inspires the next generation in all fields of design and advertising. The Awards, now in their 53rd year, are known for their strict adjudication and regarded as the pinnacle of the creative awards to which designers around the world aspire. The Advertising Museum Tokyo has exhibited D&AD Award winning works in cooperation with D&AD yearly since 2008, making this year its ninth to do so. The mission of D&AD is the provision of excellent design to people around the world, building a richer and better society by touching hearts and minds through creativity. This year’s award winners clearly express the essential need for design (solutions) in every aspect of our lives today, including campaigns addressing social issues, promotions changing the structure of logistics and the market, and installations touching hearts and minds through technology. The composition of this exhibition is intended to create a space which invites reconsideration, through the superb D&AD award-winning works, that for us as people there is “no design, no life.” It is our hope that the exhibition will provide an opportunity to encounter not only the decorative beauty of the works on display but also the power of creativity and the essence of design.
